Discovery and Learning
At Years to Grow, we believe that an effective education doesn’t just come from memorizing or lecturing. Active participation in the learning process entails analyzing, discussing and collaborating - in order to comprehend and retain. All of our course subjects are designed to encourage deep mental processing and student engagement with the class material.
Specialized Developmentally
Centered Classrooms
Our classrooms are separated by age, developmental abilities and curriculum grade levels. Our staff provides structure, discipline, and critical thinking, with the implementation of a Bible based curriculum paralleling Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences and Robert Marzano’s Model of Teaching Effectiveness. Years to Grow Preschool consistently integrates character development through a wisdom-based approach to education. We introduce phonics, reading, writing, and arithmetic. Children also participate in weekly enrichment activities, which include, art, language development, physical education, music, drama, and poetry.
Tumbling & Creative Movement Classes
Tumbling/Creative Movement classes are held once a week. Instructor Victoria Carlson has won many awards at state and national level competitions. She has worked with the Rhythm in Bleu dance team at Ovey Comeaux High for 2 years, and she is also the Co-owner of Balance Point Studios. In Ms. Carlson's classes your child will learn terminology, musicality, flexibility and strengthening exercises, and the benefits of aerobic activity all through the use of imagery and imagination sparking creativity and promoting self confidence.
Parlez vous Francais?
French Lessons
Conversational French lessons are held twice a week with Madam Kelly Schexnaider. The benefits of a foreign language are to develop near "native-like" pronunciation and intonation in a new language. Intelligence theories reveal there are sharp increases in a child's ability to apply critical thinking skills, maintain a higher reading comprehension level and apply superior writing skills when a child can speak, read and write, in multiple languages. By exposing and teaching our students French, we, at Years to Grow are supporting and embracing our French Heritage through creativity and expository experiences supporting the French culture.
